Elise didn’t start in politics as a liar. At first, she rightly got kudos for being bipartisan and able to work with Democrats to get things done. Then she suddenly became Ultra-MAGA.
Now Elise spends her time looking for things to be outraged about that she can blame on Joe Biden and Kamela Harris.
This year (2024) she has called Democrats vicious, creepy, disgraceful, antisemitic, pedo-grifters pro-communist, pro-criminal, radical, immoral, unconstitutional, far-left, feckless, socialists, corrupt, criminal, and unAmerican. That’s for Democrats in general.
While the House was in session,
Elise went AWOL. She filed an official government document saying that it was because of the ongoing COVID-19 public health emergency.
That wasn't true. The truth is she went to Mar-a-Lago for a high-roller fundraiser.
Knowingly and willfully filing a false document like that, even for a seemingly minor administrative matter, is unambiguously against the law. (18 U.S. Code, Part 1, chapter 47, Section1001). This was not the crime of the century, but it does clearly reveal that Elise will lie when it is in her best interest.
Elise likes to say she backs the blue. Now she makes excuses for and has retracted her condemnation of the January 6 "hostages." It takes gall for her to say she always backs the blue. She certainly didn’t back the blue on January 6.
Former Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson was given thousands of feet of video. He said it revealed January 6 was a mostly peaceful gathering. To quote him, “These were not insurrectionists, they were sightseers.”
After the show, Elise tweeted that Tucker Carlson’s findings “confirmed what I’ve been saying for well over a year.”
Elise was on the floor of the House before scurrying out the back door to avoid the “sightseers.” 140 police officers were injured and five people died, including a Capital Police Officer.
Over 60 courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, ruled that her accusations of a stolen election have no factual basis. Elise often says she is for the rule of law, but if you refuse to accept a ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court because you don’t like it, it takes gall to say you are for the rule of law.

Former Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson was given thousands of feet of video of the January 6 riot. He said it revealed it was a mostly peaceful gathering. To quote exactly, he said, “These were not insurrectionists, they were sightseers.”
That was a bald-faced lie. Nevertheless, after the show, Elise tweeted that Tucker Carlson’s findings “confirmed what I’ve been saying for well over a year.” Elise was on the floor of the House before scurrying out the back door to avoid the “sightseers.” More than a hundred police officers were injured and five people died, including a Capital Police Officer.
Trump’s team made the best arguments they could challenging President Biden’s win in the Presidential election of 2020.
Over 60 courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, and including judges Trump appointed ruled that accusations of a stolen election have no factual basis, and that Joe Biden won the election. Elise often says she is for the rule of law, but what does the rule of law mean to Elise?
She still says repeatedly and with no evidence that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump. If you refuse to accept a ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court because you don’t like it, it takes some gall to say you are always for the rule of law.
Elise wrote an open letter to her constituents after the 2020 election and said:
"I will respectfully object to contested electors from the states of Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Article II and the Twelfth Amendment of the Constitution make clear that I have an obligation to act on this matter if I believe there are serious questions with respect to the Presidential election.”
That is false. Article II and the Twelfth Amendment say no such thing. Elise made it up.
There are only two possibilities: Either Elise doesn't know what is in the Constitution, or she knows and is lying about it.
This claim has been debunked again and again. The Presidential election in Georgia was overseen by long-time Georgia Republicans. The ballots were counted three times and President Biden won the state. Elise falsely claimed that in one county alone, 40,000 votes came from underage, deceased, and otherwise unauthorized voters. The truth is, after a full audit, MAGA Republicans’ hand-picked consultant agreed there were no 40,000 unauthorized votes. According to the consultant, President Biden won Georgia by a greater margin than the official count. The 40,000 unauthorized voters Elise said were there do not exist. That truth hasn’t stopped Elise’s lying—she still says that the Georgia election was stolen from Trump.

The courts agreed not with Elise, but with what Rudi Giuliani said, “We’ve got lots of theories, we just don’t have evidence.”
Elise was George Santos’s most significant
endorser and supporter, including being his
biggest congressional fundraiser.
Elise knew about Santos’s lies during the
campaign. One of her aides was advising him, including helping him find replacement staff
after many quit on learning of his lies. Elise
knew what kind of person she was supporting.
Elise was duped, because while she was raising money for George Santos, he was spending it on Botox for himself, trips to casinos, and shopping at high-end stores.
Santos played Elise and she fell for it.
Elise has been the most senior and vocal congressional supporter of the widely reviled ex-representative.
The Republican-led bipartisan House Ethics Committee report concluded that “Rep. George Santos cannot be trusted. At nearly every opportunity, he placed his desire for private gain above his duty to uphold the Constitution, federal law, and ethical principles.” Apparently, that was all OK with Elise, because she voted to keep Santos in office even after his lies and corruption were exposed.
Elise also endorsed Sandy Smith, an unsuccessful 2022 House candidate who called for the arrest and execution of those responsible for the “fraud” of Mr. Trump’s defeat.
When Trump supporters tried to stop the peaceful transfer of power, Elise was initially outraged by their violence. She called it a tragic day for America. To quote her directly, “I have said repeatedly January 6 was wrong. It never should have happened. Those who stormed the Capitol and committed acts of violence, breaking into offices, including the Speaker's office should be held accountable…violence in any form is absolutely unacceptable…it is truly un-American. I hope the president, and I know the president will forcefully condemn these violent acts today.”
But then Elise had a problem.
Trump would not condemn the violence.
Elise had to decide: should she continue to speak what she knew to be the truth and condemn the deadly violence, or should she buttter up Trump to satisfy her personal ambition and go ultra-MAGA).
On January 6, she called those who broke into the Capitol a mob of “violent criminals” who “should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.” Then Elise flipped. Now, she never says anything critical about them. Now, she calls them patriots.

But then Elise had a problem. Trump was not condemning the violence. He watched the riot on TV for four hours and did nothing to stop it. His message to the lawless rioters who took part in the deadly melee was “We love you”.
At that point, Elise had to decide: should she continue to speak what she knew to be the right thing (condemn the deadly violence as un-American) or should she satisfy her personal ambition and go ultra-MAGA).
Elise decided to pretend she believes everything Trump says. On January 6, she called those who broke into the Capitol a mob of “violent criminals” who “should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.” Now, she calls them patriots and political hostages.
Elise lied about Donald Trump’s troubles with the law. Trump had just been tried before a jury of his peers and unanimously convicted of 34 felonies for fraudulently falsifying his business records in a scheme to conceal damaging information about his having sex with Stormy Daniels. He tried to buy her silence to affect the results of the 2016 Presidential election, and that’s against the law.
With no explanation and no evidence, Elise called the accusations unconstitutional.
A local upstate newspaper reported that Elise had reserved the website names EliseforPresident.com and StefanikforPresident.com.
The story was true.
When asked about it, Elise deliberately misled the press and her constituents. She had a member of her staff release a statement that no one in her office had anything to do with it. Strictly speaking, that is true.
The statement Elise released had no purpose other than to deliberately mislead her constituents, her outside-the-state donors, and the press.

Elise has a pattern of deliberately misleading her constituents when it works to her advantage. More than once, she boasted about bringing federal funding back to the district, failing to reveal she voted against it.
For example, Elise said, "To help keep Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge in sustainable working order, I proudly delivered $3 million in funding to address the degrading conditions of the bridge."

The source of the information that convinced Elise to make that false accusation against President Biden was a man named Alexander Smirnov. He told the FBI that President Biden and his son Hunter had each received a $5 million bribe from the head of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma. It wasn’t true.
When Elise heard about it, she quickly moved to weaponize it. The press was called in to see her say “A highly credible FBI source alleges that Joe Biden received a five million dollar bribe.”
Elise didn’t know it at the time, but the man she called a highly credible FBI source was a secret Russian intelligence agent. Elise broadcast the Russian disinformation to a national audience as if it were true. She didn’t know at the time she was doing it. She is what the Russians call a useful idiot. The Russians tricked Elise into spreading their disinformation.
